Mount Stewart App
- UI design
- UX design
- Travel app
For his project we were tasked with creating an app based on any aspect of travel. This is my first attempt at creating an app that was based on travel. I explored different ideas and narrowed it down to something to do with education. I think I gave myself a real challenge because I had no idea how I was going to create something that was primarily for kids, which is engaging and informative.
To better learn the process of what goes into designing an app. This in turn will develop my skills in UI/ UX design as well as illustration. The app will be illustrative as well as informative.
To begin with I had to decide what topic I was going to base my app around. Using the brainstorm I had done for this subject I decided to create an app based on one of the National Trust locations Mount Stewart. My idea was to make an app that was interactive and that would teach children in a fun and illustrative way .This is why I chose Mount Stewart because I thought it would be a great place to look at for its vast garden which contain various species of plants and animals as well as a place of historical interest. This means that there would be a lot of content that I could use for the app. I downloaded a few apps based on education in order to gain a better understanding of layout, functionality and also illustration styles that they use to appeal to user. I did some research on Mount Stewart and other educational apps before sketching out some wire frames and translating the design onto adobe illustrator.
I found this whole project really challenging because I struggled to make my idea flow from one screen to another. I also think that my idea was possibly too difficult to make for my first project on UI/UX design because there was a lot of content to create that I just couldn’t make. However, I gained a great deal of experience from doing this that I can now take forward to another project in the future.
